The storage of hazardous chemicals is of paramount importance in safety management. The current new version of the General Rules (GB 15603-2022) provides more detailed and stringent regulations on various aspects of hazardous chemical storage. To clarify management key points and avoid compliance risks, let's study this standard together, clause by clause, to fully understand the requirements and standardize operations.

In the same building or area, the storage method involves separating different prohibited items using partitions or walls.

Storage methods in different buildings or in different rooms within the same building.

1. Basic requirements

1. The planning, site selection, construction, and safety facilities of warehouses for hazardous chemical storage and operation enterprises shall comply with the requirements of GB 50016 and GB 18265.

2. A hazardous chemical storage information management system should be established, with tiered requirements based on the volume of storage, to record basic operational data in real time, including but not limited to:

① Records of hazardous chemicals entering and exiting the warehouse, including but not limited to: time, type, name, and quantity;

② Identify the fire-fighting media, emergency and fire-fighting requirements, hazardous characteristics, physicochemical properties, handling and storage precautions and taboos, as well as the safety compatibility matrix table that may be involved, as required in the chemical safety technical specification;

③ Information on the types, quantities, distribution within the warehouse, packaging forms, etc. of hazardous chemicals in stock;   

④ Taboo storage conditions for hazardous chemicals in inventory;  

⑤ Safety and emergency measures for hazardous chemicals in stock.

3. The storage information and data of hazardous chemicals should be backed up in real-time at a remote location, with the data retention period being no less than one year.

4. The hazardous chemical information system should have an interface for connecting to the business information system of the relevant regulatory authorities in the local area.
